How to cancel OurFamilyWizard and keep your records

Updated 3 November 2026 · Steps from OurFamilyWizard's own help centre, checked 3 Nov 2026 · Ireland, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada

If you are moving away from OurFamilyWizard, the order matters: save your records first, then stop the renewal. Everything below comes from OurFamilyWizard's own help centre, linked at each step, so you can check it there.

Before you start

Step 1: download your reports

OurFamilyWizard's help centre says you can log in and download or print your records for free (records and business record affidavits). The reports it lists are Messages, Calendar, Expenses, Journal, Call Activity, Sign In History and InfoBank (How do I access the reports in OurFamilyWizard?).

  1. Log in through a web browser on a computer. Its help centre says reports cannot be downloaded in the mobile app.
  2. Open each area, such as Messages, Calendar or Calls, and choose the report or print option.
  3. Pick the dates and sections you want, then save each report as a PDF.
  4. Keep the PDFs somewhere you control, and a second copy somewhere else.

Reports include what was shared between you; its help centre says the other parent's private information is not included. Depending on your plan, OurFamilyWizard can also produce your records with a notarised business record affidavit, and fees may apply.

Step 2: turn off auto-renew

Each of you has your own subscription, so each of you manages your own renewal. Its help centre (How do I cancel my subscription?) gives three routes, depending on where you subscribed:

OurFamilyWizard says it does not process cancellations or refunds for App Store or Google Play subscriptions; those go through Apple or Google.

Step 3: check whether a refund applies

Its pricing pages offer "a full refund within the first 30 days of your plan", with the note that refund policies vary by platform. Its help centre (How do I request a refund?) says a website purchase within 30 days of the first subscription may be eligible for a full refund through its refund form, and that store purchases are refunded through Apple or Google.

Step 4: tell your co-parent, in writing

Send a short, calm message before you go: that you are stopping OurFamilyWizard, from which date, and how to reach you instead. That way there is a record that you gave notice, and nothing is missed in the gap.

Step 5: set up somewhere new

If you choose ParenThing, it takes about twenty minutes:

  1. Install ParenThing from Google Play or the App Store, and create your family.
  2. Invite your co-parent. The Free plan covers both of you, and one Premium plan covers the whole family if you want calls, money tools and records.
  3. Rebuild the calendar from your parenting plan or court order.
  4. Upload the PDFs you saved to Documents, and mark each one private or shared.

ParenThing Premium includes audio and video calls between the two parents in the ParenThing phone app on Android and iPhone, with 1,000 call minutes a month for the family. A free trial includes 100 call minutes. You can also book calls with the children, one-off or repeating: a child's call rings the phone of the parent the child is with, who hands the phone over. Calls are not recorded or transcribed, and they are not available on the web app. Each call leaves a plain entry in your family's record: who called, when, how long it lasted and whether it was answered.

Where your records are kept: your family's records are stored in Ireland. Tone checks on messages are processed by Anthropic in the US. More on your data.
Calls: calls are not recorded. While a call is on, our calls provider carries it, and it may pass through servers outside the EU. How calls work.

Common questions

How do I cancel my Our Family Wizard subscription?

It depends where you bought it. On the website, go to My Account, then Billing, and turn off Auto Renew. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel through Apple or Google; OurFamilyWizard says it does not process those cancellations.

Can I get a refund from OurFamilyWizard?

Its help centre says a full refund is available within 30 days of a first subscription bought on its website. App Store and Google Play purchases are refunded through Apple or Google, and its pricing page notes that refund policies vary by platform.

Can I download my OurFamilyWizard messages on my phone?

No. Its help centre says reports cannot be downloaded in the mobile app. Log in through a web browser and download each report from there.

Will my co-parent lose their OurFamilyWizard account if I cancel?

Each parent has their own subscription, so each of you manages your own renewal. Tell your co-parent in writing before you stop using it.

Can I move my OurFamilyWizard records into ParenThing?

Nothing moves across automatically. Save your reports as PDFs, then upload them to Documents in ParenThing, where you can keep each one private or share it with your co-parent.
