Did you know?
You can now settle the children's costs with Revolut or PayPal
We've made paying each other for the children's costs easier, with Revolut and PayPal built in. When one of you pays for something, like the school tour, swimming lessons or new shoes, ParenThing works out the other parent's share from the split you agreed. Now you can ask for that share in one tap, and your co-parent can pay you straight from their own Revolut or PayPal.
Pay with the app you already use
Add your Revolut or PayPal once. When your co-parent taps Pay, their own Revolut or PayPal opens with your details, and ParenThing copies the amount for them. No bank details to swap, no working out who owes what. You both see it marked as paid.
How it works
- Ask for their share Add your Revolut or PayPal once. Your co-parent gets a gentle reminder with the amount, and one tap takes them straight to sending it.
- Their share is waiting It shows on their Home screen. They tap Pay and the amount is copied, ready to paste.
- Paid from their own app Revolut or PayPal opens with your details. The money goes straight from one of you to the other.
- Marked as paid You confirm it arrived and you are both square. The record keeps a reference you can both see.
Already have ParenThing? Update the app from the App Store or Google Play to get the new flow. In a browser, it is already live at app.parenthing.ie.
Questions
Does ParenThing hold or move our money?
No. The payment happens in your own Revolut or PayPal, from one parent to the other. ParenThing keeps the record: what was paid, when, and a reference you can both see.
What if we do not use Revolut or PayPal?
Pay however suits you, by bank transfer or in cash, then tap "I paid another way". Your co-parent confirms it arrived, and the record is the same.
Why do I paste the amount?
Revolut and PayPal links open without an amount filled in. So when you tap Pay, ParenThing copies your share for you, and you paste it in.
Where do I add my Revolut or PayPal?
The first time you ask for a share, ParenThing asks where it should go. You can change it any time in Account, under Profile.
Which plan is this on?
Expenses and settling up are part of Premium, one subscription that covers both parents.
